You are about to go shopping for one of the most expensive dress you will ever have !
Yes it is exciting and it can be a bit overwhelming. Here are few tips to make sure your experience will be a pleasant one. Happy dress hunt!
Start early. If it is possible start shopping for your dress 9 month before your wedding. For custom made dresses allow at least 6 months from sketches to final fitting.
Be sure to select a reputable store with a salesperson who is there to help match your style and desire to the perfect dress. If the sale person is rude or pushy or try to direct you to a dress style that you know is not for you... walk out.
Who to bring along? It is up to you if you would like to bring your mom, your best friend your planner and/ or a support group of friends. Many boutiques make a party of it and serve you champagne to celebrate the milestone. Whatever you do remember that you are shopping for YOUR dress. Something that has to make you feel special and enhance the unique you. If having to go through the opinion of all your friends makes you restless limit the number of people to the one that you know you can count on for this task.
Take note that taking pictures of the dresses sometimes is frowned upon. Be polite and ask your bridal consultant prior to pull out your smart phone and taking pictures.
Do your homework. Bring pictures from magazine or Pinterest of dresses and styles you like but be also open to suggestions. This is a great chance to work with a stylist that will educate you in which shapes, cut and styles work well with your figure.
Go prepared! That means to go to a fitting with appropriate undergarment and with shoes that will be potentially similar to the ones you will wear the day of your wedding.
NEVER allow anybody to make you feel less that the gorgeous lady you are!!! Remember that the goal is to find the dress you like, that will enhance your figure and makes you feel like a million bucks but also comfortable on your own skin. You have to find the dress that will fit you not the other way around. So NO to drastic diets ,NO to liposuction , breast augmentation or reduction just because you want to look a certain way on your wedding dress. A bride in love that walks down the aisle to the love of her life aware of the value of the vows she is about to exchange is the most gorgeous, sexy and irresistible bride EVER.
